Lowveld Academy athletes showed grit, teamwork and resilience at the Rhino Warrior Challenge, conquering mud, obstacles and fear together.
HOEDSPRUIT – Four athletes from Lowveld Academy faced an ultimate test of strength, courage, and teamwork at the Rhino Warrior Challenge 2025.
Sponsored by Sleepers Restaurant, the team – Laya Dunne, Thulani Mhaule, Faizan Ul Hag, and Kgomotso Molefe – arrived at the Protrack tent to collect their numbers and gift packs, ready to take on the 5km course.
From the start, the young warriors displayed determination and focus.
The race included a variety of challenging obstacles, from tunnels filled with muddy water to carrying heavy sandbags and poles over and under barriers. At every hurdle, the team pushed forward together, never yielding to the difficulty or the competition.

“Watching these young athletes take on the course with such grit and teamwork was truly inspiring,” said Lilla van Dam.
Although they did not finish first, the warriors proved themselves on every level, overcoming fear, supporting one another, and showing resilience under pressure. Crossing the finish line, they received their medals with pride, relief, and a sense of accomplishment.
The LA Warriors exemplified true sportsmanship and perseverance, reminding everyone that courage and teamwork often matter more than victory. Their efforts will surely inspire future participants of the Rhino Warrior Challenge.
