Limpopo police probe two murder cases in Maake and Mankweng

Limpopo police are investigating two separate murder cases reported in Maake and Mankweng after incidents on December 26.

LIMPOPO – Police are investigating two separate murder cases reported in the Maake and Mankweng policing areas following incidents that occurred on Friday (December 26).

Maake

In the Maake policing area, a murder case has been opened after the body of a 62-year-old woman was discovered at the Masehlana River in Madawa Village.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says police were alerted to the presence of an unknown female body in the river and, upon arrival, found community members at the scene. A resident pointed out the body to officers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was wearing only a T-shirt, with her shoes and other clothing items found scattered nearby.

She was bleeding from her mouth and nose.

“Further information indicated that the deceased was last seen on Christmas Day when she reportedly told family members she was taking her grandchild to the child’s mother in Madawa Village. She did not return home,” says Ledwaba.

The perpetrator in this case remains unknown.

Mankweng

In a separate incident, police in Mankweng are also investigating a murder following an incident in the Mabopane Moshate Section.

“Officers were summoned to the scene and found the body of a 29-year-old man lying on the ground, facing upwards. The victim was wearing white shorts and a green shirt and had visible bruises as well as a stab wound to the upper body.”

Emergency Medical Services later certified him dead at the scene.

The perpetrator and circumstances surrounding the incident are still unknown.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in either investigation or lead to the arrest of those responsible to contact Detective Sergeant Bopape of Maake SAPS on 079 875 7951 or Detective Sergeant Matome Mangena of Mankweng SAPS on 082 397 7076.

Information can also be shared at the nearest police station, via Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS App.

Investigations into both cases are continuing.
