Murder case opened after body found in Lephepane

Police are investigating the murder of a 22-year-old man whose body was discovered in his home in Lephepane village on Sunday.

LIMPOPO – A murder case is under investigation in the Mopani District after the body of a young man was discovered in Lephepane village on Sunday afternoon (January 18).

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says police were called to the scene, where family members reported that the victim, Emmanuel Makwela (22), had left home on Saturday morning (January 17) without informing anyone of his destination.

The following morning, a family member discovered Makwela’s naked body on a bed inside the house, showing no signs of life. He was found with bruises on his upper body.

Emergency Medical Services personnel certified him dead upon their arrival.

The motive for the killing is currently unknown. A murder case has been registered, and no arrests have been made.
