Police commissioner to visit 3 Limpopo flood search sites

Lt Gen Hadebe will visit search operations for missing flood victims in the Vhembe and Mopani regions to support rescue teams.

LIMPOPO – Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, will be visiting three key search and rescue sites across Limpopo today (January 20) following devastating floods in the province.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says the visits will support teams engaged in ongoing recovery operations at separate tragic incidents.

Her itinerary will begin at the Dzindi River in Tswinga village, Vhembe District, where a vehicle with two occupants was swept away on Saturday afternoon (January 17).

The Commissioner will then proceed to Mbaula village in the Mopani District, where search efforts continue for a five-year-old boy reported missing due to flash floods on Thursday morning (January 16).

She will conclude her tour at the Selati River in Mashishimale, Namakgale, where two children were reportedly swept away while swimming on Sunday afternoon (January 18).

Hadebe will use the opportunity to encourage the multi-disciplinary Search and Rescue teams and assess the coordinated efforts to ensure public safety in the affected communities.
