Letaba turn up the heat to beat Potties on home turf
Letaba secured a hard-fought 34–28 win against Potties, thrilling the home crowd and building momentum for the upcoming semi-finals.

TZANEEN – Letaba Rugby Club produced an impressive display of attacking rugby to secure a hard-fought 34–28 victory over Potties at Letaba Park on Saturday, delighting a passionate home crowd and underlining their credentials ahead of the business end of the season.
Already assured of their place in the Super League (Shield) semi-finals, scheduled for March 14, Letaba approached the fixture with confidence and composure.
Rather than easing off, the hosts used the match as an opportunity to sharpen their systems and maintain momentum, delivering a performance that combined structure, flair, and discipline.
From the opening exchanges, Letaba showed their intent with crisp passing and intelligent use of space, keeping Potties under sustained pressure.
While the visitors refused to back down and remained competitive throughout, Letaba’s ability to execute their attacking patterns at key moments proved decisive.
The scoreboard reflected a contest played at high intensity, with both sides contributing to an entertaining spectacle.
Head coach Carel O’Neill was full of praise for his side after the match, highlighting their commitment to the game plan.

He described the performance as “textbook attacking rugby”, emphasising how the players maintained their structure and trusted the systems they had worked hard to develop over the course of the season.
O’Neill also singled out the role of the local supporters, noting the vibrant atmosphere around the field.
The visible unity between players and supporters continues to be a defining feature of Letaba’s home fixtures.
Attention now turns to the semi-finals, where Letaba await confirmation of their opponents. While nothing has been finalised, the Mogol Rugby Club is widely expected to be their likely rivals.
