Greater Tzaneen libraries excel at provincial awards
Greater Tzaneen Municipality libraries dominate 2025 Limpopo DSAC awards, showcasing top staff and outstanding community service.

LIMPOPO – Libraries under the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) achieved remarkable success at the 2025 Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) provincial library awards.
The ceremony, held last month at Bolivia Lodge, recognised outstanding contributions by libraries and staff across the province, celebrating excellence in promoting reading, learning, and access to information.
GTM libraries dominated several award categories, showcasing the dedication and professionalism of their staff.
Staff and libraries recognised for excellence
Suzette Krause from Tzaneen District Library secured first position for best librarian, while Samuel Makola of Haenertsburg Library earned second best librarian.

In the library assistant category, Gloria Maunatlala from Runnymede Library was named best library assistant, with Comfort Rhulani Mathebula from Tzaneen Public Library achieving second place.

In addition to individual recognition, Runnymede Library was crowned the third-best public library in the province, standing out among 101 libraries in Limpopo.

This achievement reflects the high standards of service, organisation, and community engagement maintained across GTM libraries.
The awards underscore the important role that libraries play in the Greater Tzaneen area.
Libraries as hubs of knowledge and community support
Beyond lending books, they provide access to information, learning resources, and educational support, particularly in rural communities where such services are crucial.
GTM libraries continue to serve as hubs of knowledge, supporting literacy, education, and lifelong learning for residents of all ages.
The municipality has commended its library staff for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to serving the community.
Through these achievements, GTM libraries have firmly established themselves as leaders in library services, setting a benchmark for other municipalities in the province and reinforcing the importance of accessible, well-managed, and community-focused libraries.
