Run Hoedspruit: Wildlife Haven Half Marathon returns
The Hoedspruit Wildlife Haven Half Marathon returns May 30 with 5km, 10km and 21.1km races, prizes and a vibrant atmosphere.
HOEDSPRUIT – Hoedspruit is gearing up to welcome runners and fitness enthusiasts for the second annual Hoedspruit Wildlife Haven Half Marathon, set to take place on May 30 at the Drakensig Military Sports Ground.
Hoedspruit prepares for an even bigger marathon event
Hosted by the Maruleng Local Municipality (MLM) together with Maruleng Athletics Club (MAC), the event returns following a successful debut and is expected to draw an even larger field of participants this year.
Runners will be able to choose between three distances: 21.1km, 10km, and 5km, making the event accessible to both competitive athletes and recreational runners.
Race details and entry information
The 21.1km half-marathon will start at 06:10, followed by the 10km race at 06:20 and the 5km fun run at 06:30.
Entry fees are R200 for the half-marathon, R150 for the 10km, and R100 for the 5km.
A temporary licence fee of R60 will apply to non-club runners participating in the 21.1km and 10km races.
To encourage early registration, organisers have announced that the first 200 paid entrants in the 21.1km and 10km categories will receive a complimentary event T-shirt, with limited sizes available.
Race number collection will take place at the Maruleng Local Municipality office on May 25 and 26, between 16:00 and 20:00, and on race day from 04:30 to 05:45.
Prizes, perks and race-day experience
A total prize purse of R50 000 is up for grabs, with prize-giving scheduled for 10:30 after the races conclude.
Beyond the competition, the event will offer a vibrant race-day atmosphere, with stalls and refreshments available for both participants and spectators.
The race will follow Athletics South Africa’s rules, ensuring a professionally managed, competitive event.
