Bastion Open brings padel action to Hoedspruit
The Bastion Open padel tournament kicks off May 2 in Hoedspruit, with R45 000 in prizes, a fun social atmosphere, and support for the K2C Biosphere.
HOEDSPRUIT – Entries have officially opened for the upcoming Bastion Open, a padel tournament set to take place on May 2 at Hoedspruit Padel & Sports Bar.
The event is expected to draw players and spectators from across the region for a full day of competitive sport, entertainment, and community engagement.
Three divisions: Men, women and mixed teams
Hosted by Bastion Aviation, the tournament will feature three divisions: men’s, women’s, and mixed, with each category limited to 16 teams.
Organisers say the format is designed to ensure high-quality competition while maintaining an inclusive and social atmosphere.
Supporting the K2C Biosphere
Proceeds raised during the tournament will go towards supporting the NPC Kruger to Canyons (K2C) Biosphere.
The initiative aims to combine sport with purpose, allowing participants to contribute to environmental sustainability efforts while competing on the court.
R45 000 prize pool on offer
A total prize pool of over R45 000 has been announced, with R10 000 awarded to the winning team in each division.
Runner-up teams will receive R5 000, while third-place finishers will be rewarded with padel merchandise prizes.
According to organisers, the incentives are intended to attract both experienced players and emerging talent within the fast-growing sport of padel.
Teams are required to pay an entry fee of R1 500, which covers participation for two players.
Registration on the day will begin at 07:30, with matches scheduled to start at 08:00.
Fun, food and live entertainment
The Bastion Open promises more than just competition, offering live DJ entertainment, giveaways, and a variety of food and drinks for players, families, and the public.
