U/14 Schools League registration deadline looms
Now in its eighth year, the league supported by the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), promises nothing but exciting things for your school's team.

Registration for the 2017 McDonald’s U/14 schools league closes on March 31.
The registration process began on January 11 and many schools across the country, far and wide, have been responding to the call to register by sending forms back to be part of this prestigious U/14 League.
Now in its eighth year, the league supported by the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA), promises nothing but exciting things for your school’s team.
“We are grateful to this eight year marriage with McDonald’s as we celebrate our anniversary. We are still developing dreams and making sure that a healthy lifestyle, a winning mentality is instilled in the minds of our young athletes who will take the development of sports into another level through School Sports and great initiative such as the U/14 McDonalds League.” said SASFA president Mandla Shoes Mazibuko.
Speaking about the league, Daniel Padiachy, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s South Africa said the McDonald’s U/14 Schools League has been entrenched in the concept of “ developing dreams ” and over the years, we have been proud to witness those dreams become a reality for the young boys of this country. “We are excited about the league and this year hope to reach 5,000 schools and further provide an opportunity for parents and the communities to be part of the all festivities while supporting their children. The soccer games from the regional stage to the festivals and finally to the nationals, will allow children to showcase football talent amongst their peers. We believe that we all need to work together in supporting football development at a grassroots level,” said Padiachy.
The 2016 defending champions are the highly talented team from Clapham High School in Pretoria. Their journey to the national championship has truly been a remarkable one. After being knocked out in 2014 at Cluster Circuit, then eliminated at the Regional Phase of the province in 2015, they gathered notes from the previous knockouts and decided to aim higher to reach for the stars so that in 2016 they lift the trophy that’s been missing from their cabinet. This win proves that all dreams can come true. If we work on them, no matter how big or small, the dreams are achievable.
The tournament has in recent years produced players like Phakamani Mahlambi, Sibongakonke Mbatha and Kobamelo Kodisang who are currently representing South Africa in Zambia at CAF U20 Cup.
Schools around the country are encouraged to register for the U/14 McDonald’s Schools League 2017. League forms are available on our website www.saschoolsfa.co.za or contact us on (011) 403 2844.
