Fransie athletes make Phalaborwa proud

Frans du Toit High School claimed fourth gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals at the Soutpansberg Inter-high, finishing fifth overall.

PHALABORWA – Frans du Toit High School represented the Phalaborwa community well at the Soutpansberg Inter-high, hosted at Merensky Agricultural Academy in Tzaneen, on February 20.

The Fransie put up a strong performance against some of the region’s best athletics schools and finished fifth overall among the eight participating schools.

Hoërskool Frans du Toit sings at the Soutpansberg Inter-high. The Fransies boast a Sixty60 theme for the event.

The Fransies took home four gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals and were named the school with the “best prepared song”.

Dougie Mongwe wins gold in hurdles.

The gold medalists are Ithute Mtheto, Shane Kuhlengisa, Dougie Mongwe, and Wayne Chatukuta.

Silver medalists are Ithute Mtheto, Harper Shiburi (two), Tshegofatso Mkondwane, Bruno Malatjie, Dougie Mongwe, Keletso Makwala, and Dudu Khosa. Lonnie Mlondzo, Harper Shiburi (two), Prince Mkhonto, Phetolo Selete, and Benjamin Nemagaya.
