Hoedspruit Defence Pistol Club shooters attended the Northern National Championships which took place in Pretoria from June 15-18.

“It is one of the youngest clubs in the country as it was started in September 2016, but doesn’t stand back for big events,” said Peet van der Westhuizen of Lowveld Guns and Bows.

Hoedspruit brought home the most medals from a single club with the following shooters attending: Li Lotriet, Peet van der Westhuizen, Chris van der Westhuizen, Jaco Croucamp, Mareuil Aitchison, Jehanne van Heerden, Thehan Wolmarans, Gideon Stander and Machiel Bekker.

The medal winners were; Li Lotriet, Silver Master CDP, Mareuil Aitchison Bronze Sharpshooter ESP, Peet van der Westhuizen Silver Marksman ESP, Chris van der Westhuizen Gold Novice ESP and Jehanne van Heerden Silver Novice ESP. Mareuil Aithison was also match promoted to expert and Peet van der Westhuizen match promoted to sharpshooter.

“The same team also qualified to compete in the African Champs, which will take place from August 11-13 in Johannesburg. It is a tier 4 event, which is an international level event.

Hoedspruit can truly feel proud to compete at this level,” concluded van der Westhuizen.
