Tzaneen Boxing Thriller produces new SA female champ

The boxing fraternity in Limpopo is over the moon after producing the first female South African light-weight champion.

This is after Raider Muleba from Venda beat the defending champion, Kholosa Ndobayeni from the North-West province during the Tzaneen Boxing Thriller which took place on Sunday evening at Nkowankowa Sports Centre.
Muleba told the Herald that she is over the moon with the win. She said she won the title for the people of Limpopo and it is a great feeling.

“The win is a motivation to go back to the gym and train even harder than before, so that I can retain the title,” she said.
The new champion also said she would gladly take up Ndobayeni for a rematch if she wanted to challenge her. Meanwhile Thembani Hobyane from Malamulele has been named the new male Limpopo light-weight vacant champion, after winning unanimously against fan favourite, Ripfumelo Shikwambana from Burgersdorp village.

Hobyane had his Malamulele fans in the arena which supported him throughout the ten round match.
Other fights that took place included an international female middle-weight match between Emily Kapala from Zimbabwe and Mapula ‘Thunder’ Ngubane from KwaZulu-Natal. Ngubane won by a technical knock-out (TKO) in the third round.
Ngubane said her last fight was in March and she was expecting a tougher opponent, as the match was only a warm-up.

Another fight which ended on a TKO was between Humbulani Netshimutshedzi from Venda, who over powered Romeo Makwakwa from Malawi and the referee called the match finished in the third round.
Organiser of the event, James Mathonsi, told the Herald, that he was pleased with event and was humbled by the support from the boxers, sponsors and the community at large. He promised to host another bigger event next year.
