Mageva a soccer star to look out for

The talented local soccer star, Ayanda Mokgalaka from Mashishimale says soccer has kept him off the streets

He is known as Mageva, a name given to him as a young boy by his coach, Elia Monyela, after a great footballer. The 18-year-old has received a number of accolades for his skills on the pitch and was recently named the player of the tournament at the Shayi Soccer Tournament. He was only nine years old when he was told that he was talented and started to take football seriously.

“My late aunt, Mamsy Mokgalaka, had a big impact on my life. She bought me a pair of good and expensive soccer boots so that I can pursue my passion.” He says every time he is on the field, he plays to make her happy. “It is a pity she can’t see me playing anymore, but I will forever be grateful for the love and support she gave me,” he says.
