Drakensig’s golf champs tee off

Golfers from Hoedspruit’s Drakensig Golf Club competed fiercely over two days, with Paul Pretorius and Mandy Rossouw crowned 2025 champions.

HOEDSPRUIT – Golfers from across the local community teed off in high spirits two weeks ago as the annual club championships got underway at Drakensig Golf Club in Hoedspruit.

The two-day event, a highlight on the club’s sporting calendar, saw members compete over 36 holes to determine the top players of the year.

The championship drew strong participation from players across all divisions. The event was followed by a lively prize-giving ceremony hosted at Maroela Bar, where players, families, and supporters gathered to celebrate the weekend’s achievements.

Paul Pretorius emerged as the standout performer of the tournament, claiming the coveted Club Champion 2025 title. Pretorius also clinched the B Division title, showcasing his consistency and skill throughout the event.

In the women’s category, Mandy Rossouw secured the Ladies Club Champion 2025 title, while Karl Jaacks took top honours in the A Division. Alwyn Grove walked away as the C Division winner.

Adding an extra spark to the weekend’s excitement, Bertus Myburgh delivered a spectacular hole-in-one on the 13th hole, drawing loud cheers and admiration from fellow golfers.

Organisers thanked all the members who took part, as well as Maroela Bar, for their hospitality during the prize-giving function. The club hailed the event as a great success, celebrating both the competitive spirit and camaraderie among its members.
