Drakensig Golf wraps up spectacular 2025

Drakensig Golf Club closed its 2025 season with Medal of Medals finals, celebrating winners and sponsors at a festive Hoedspruit event.

HOEDSPRUIT – The Drakensig Golf Club brought its 2025 golfing season to a memorable close on December 6, with the much-anticipated Medal of Medals finals, sponsored by Spar Hoedspruit, followed by a festive year-end function at Maroela Bar.

The Medal of Medals event marked the culmination of a year of tournaments, golf days, and individual competitions. In a closely contested final, Philip Ter Beest claimed first place, followed by Chris van der Westhuizen in second, and Johan Swart taking third.

The club also hosted its Saturday medal competition, with Andrew Kingston topping the leaderboard, while Philip Terbees and Chris van der Westhuizen rounded out the top three positions.

The red order of merit medal was won by Joan Accutt, and the order of merit medal winners were Karl Jaacks in first place, Paul Pretorius in second, and again Joan Accutt securing third place.

In other season highlights, the Eclectic competition saw Paul Pretorius take the top spot, followed by Marc Accutt, while the singles match play cup was claimed by Charles Jones, with Paul Pretorius as runner-up.

The singles match play plate winners were Piet Scheepers and Frik Coetzee, respectively.

The doubles match play cup was won by the team of Andrew Lovell and Piet Scheepers, with Karl Jaacks and Gerrit Breytenbach finishing second.

In the doubles plate competition, Chris Maritz and Pieter Maritz took first place, followed by Lynette Strauss and Janka Strauss.

A particularly notable achievement was the recognition of Christa Volsteedt as the most improved player of 2025, celebrating her dedication and progress throughout the season.

In addition to celebrating its players, the club extended heartfelt thanks to its 2025 sponsors, including Spar Hoedspruit, Blue Mountain Restaurant, NTT Toyota, Maroela Bar, and Ini Gat Pub, for their continued support.
