Tzaneen officer excels again

Yet another stellar performance by Tzaneen’s young police officer at the SAPS National Athletics Championships, held at Tshwane Police Academy recently.

Constable Gladstone Shabangu (33) brought back home three gold medals in long jump, javelin and shot put from the games. In the long jump male (30-35) category he came out tops after doing a 6.58m jump, meanwhile in javelin he won by a 51,89m throw and he did a shot put distance of 11.01m.

The Maake Police Station officer has a long list of sporting achievements, dating from his high school days. Last year January, Shabangu was crowned SAPS National Sports Man of the year in Sun City.

In the past he, had the opportunity to compete with renowned South African high jump athlete, Khutso Mokoena.
