Tzaneen athletes ready to take on the BIG run

Eleven members of the Tzaneen Marathon Club are going to attempt the 93rd Comrades Marathon on Sunday.

The race is run over a distance of approximately 89 km in a time of less than 12 hours from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. All participants had to qualify for the race by running at least one marathon in less than 5 hours.

Two members of the club are attempting their 10th Comrades race this year. They are Matome Rakhwale and Benjamin Malatji.

Front: Edward Mathebula, Erika MacConnel and Matome Rakhwale. Back: Jan de Kock, Paul Zaayman.

Other members that are going to participate are, Cor van Heyningen, Edward Mathebula, Erika MacConnel, Johannes de Kock, Lemmer Human, Mabulana Mohale Daniel, Matome Rakhwale, Molimisi Maltji, Oupa Morwane,

Paul Zaayman and Thoba Matsepane. They have each completed 9 Comrades before, and by completing their 10th Comrades, they will receive a green number. This means their Comrades race number becomes their number permanently. We wish them all of the best for their efforts.
