NTT Rally returns to Tzaneen

Motorsport lovers will be happy to learn that the date for the NTT Tzaneen Rally has been set for August 30-31.

The two-day event will see teams from across the country return to show off their driving skills on the tracks and routes around Tzaneen. The Tzaneen leg of the rally constitutes the seventh and eighth stages of the South African National Rally Championship. Drivers who want to take on the mountain roads of Tzaneen and its surrounding areas will soon be able to register for the thrilling race.

The various routes and stages of the event will also be finalised shortly by the organising committee. In the past local drivers such as Theuns Joubert, Eric de Jager, Peter Pilusa, and Louis Menge, among others, showed off their driving skills.

However, Menge and Pilusa, told the Herald that they will not be part of this year’s event. Joubert told the Herald that he is hoping that his car will be ready by that time, as he is waiting for parts that are imported from overseas.

The Tzaneen leg is rated one of the best-organised events by the participating teams and has enjoyed the support of residents along the tracks and routes. For more on the SA rally, visit the website, nrcsa.co.za, or the Facebook page for the local rally, NTT Tzaneen Rally.
