Help raise money for life changing surgeries
A local surgeon will host a 200km fun walk to raise funds for patients who need life-changing operations but cannot afford to pay for them.
Dr Ephraim Kgoete is calling on businesses and community members to join the second Surgery Drive Fundraising Campaign from November 12 to 18. The walk will start from the Caltex Filling Station at Tzaneen Crossing, and the route will follow the R36 to Lydenburg and Graskop.
Funds raised will be used to perform surgeries on patients who suffer from non-cancerous cosmetic conditions such as keloids, lipomas, superficial cysts and other circumcisionrelated ailments. Kgoete, who operates a mobile surgery and clinic, says these conditions can cause considerable discomfort, disfigurement, and emotional distress.

In 2022 he conducted a life-changing surgery on Thomas Mogale whose face was covered by growths which prevented him from living his life to the fullest. He says donations of bottled water, rehydration solutions, first aid kits, ambulances, assistance vehicles, food parcels, energy drinks and bars, accommodation or camping equipment, safety reflectors, sunscreen, hats and printed T-shirts are welcome.
He reiterates that the campaign is not to make money but to create awareness of the medical conditions he assists his patients with. The fee to join the campaign is R480 per person. For more information, call 065 924 1723 or email dr.eskgoete.inc@ gmail.com.
