Women on the Move celebrated Women’s Month in style at Hotel@Tzaneen on Thursday evening.

They held a gala dinner that was aimed at encouraging women to work together and not look down on each other. The theme was “Celebrating 60th Anniversary of Women’s Charter and 20 years of Freedom: Together moving a non-racial, non-sexist South Africa forward.”

Founder and organizer of Women on the Move, Shaun Mhlongo said their movement is about caring, supporting, comforting, loving and empowering each other. She added that it was established in 2007 and is aimed at helping women who are struggling with different obstacles in life. The women were also educated about legal matters. Control prosecutor at Tzaneen Magistrate Court, Rifumo Baloyi, made sure that by the end of the event the women were armed with useful knowledge. She said women must never allow their men to use them as punching bags. She also spoke about different types of marriages that are recognized in South Africa.

Department of Agriculture’s Manager in the province, Nontokozo Zwane was the key speaker she told women who aspire to be successful to erase the word “impossible” in their vocabulary. ‘Everything is possible,’ she said. She also advised them to work hard and give themselves time to prepare (not to strain themselves because of last minutes preparations).Shaun thanked the sponsors who made the event a success. ‘Your support is amazing, thank you very much for supporting the movement,’ she said. The sponsors were: Greater Tzaneen Economic Development Agency (Gteda), Vhimbani Catering and Decor, Daily Double, Boxer Supermarket, Oasis Water, Dr Maowasha, Caltex Garage, South African Breweries (SAB), Saghwati Consulting and Enterprises and Popular Salon.
