Celebrate spring up in the mountain
Celebrate the joys of Spring from today, September 24 until October 2 at the annual Spring Festival in Haenertsburg Village, Cheerio Gardens and the Magoebaskloof Hotel.
It is a glorious experience in one of South Africa’s best kept secrets, Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof.
Art and craft, food stalls, orchid exhibition, open gardens, pubs, restaurants and shops are just a few things that will be on offer.
Richard Cock and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra will be entertaining guests.
The Spring Fair at the Orion Magoebaskloof Hotel will be celebrating over 3 decades as a showcase of exceptional local arts and crafts.
There will be a wide selection of handcrafts on display, ranging from designer clothing to hand-made gold and silver jewelry, traditional bead work and silk screen items.
Other displays will include sturdy wooden toys painted in bright colours, exquisite hand-stitched bed linen, wire art, soaps and oils, hand-tooled leather belts, designer leather shoes, pewter and wooden items for the home and garden.
Fine art works will also be exhibited and the blind basket weavers will demonstrate their skills and sell a range of baskets, dog baskets, lampshades, tables and cabinets.
Fabric-painted items such as table cloths and T-shirts will be on show.
A magnificent orchid display will be set up in a marquee on the hotel lawns where local orchid specialist Claudia Smith will give advice on potting and propagating orchids.
Bromeliads and bonsai will also be on show and plants will be for sale.
To keep the children entertained there will be wire-cars races on an outside track. For more information about the Festival contact 082 575 5738 or 073 216 9912.
