Things women should know when they travel alone

We will be looking at a few precautions, especially for female drivers.

Women are best regarded as safe drivers on the roads and while that could be true, they are the most vulnerable especially when driving alone.

We will be looking at a few precautions, especially for female drivers.

  • Vehicle Maintenance

Make sure that your car is mechanically sound and it has been serviced by a reputable service centre.

  • Always have fuel

Trust me, you do not want to run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. Always fill up the tank when it is half empty rather than waiting for the last dose.

  • Learn, learn and learn

Educate yourself on how to change a tyre, jump-start the battery as well as other basic maintenance tips.

  • Check tyre condition

Ensure that your tyres are in good condition and filled with the correct air pressure. Do not forget to check also the spare wheel.

  • Keep your valuables out of sight

Do not become a victim of a smash and grab. Always keep your valuables out of sight.

  • Do not offer lifts to strangers

Don’t stop for just anyone. This is self-explanatory.

  • Plan your trips

Make it a point that you plan your trips and by doing so, you will avoid stopping at awkward places as well as getting lost.

  • Always be alert

Do not stop at dodgy areas and be mindful of your surroundings.
