Hlulani travels to 30 countries by age 30

When other girls dreamt of being married and having kids by the age of thirty, Hlulani Baloyi had a different dream.

She had set herself a goal to have travelled to 30 countries by the age of 30.
Last year her goal materialised and she concluded her journey in Malta.
The Malamulele born woman has travelled to four continents, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.
Some of the countries she visited include Swaziland, Kenya, Jordan, Qatar, Netherlands, Germany, Georgia and Slovakia, amongst many.

Her love for travelling started in 2015 when she went on a month-long trip to Dubai on a graduate programme.
“That experience brought about a change in how I had always viewed the world. It was so very different how my world looked like versus to what I was now being exposed to.
“The food, language, religion and the way people approached their day to day life were all different.
“I became curious to experience every part of the world,” she said.

Baloyi considers travelling as a ‘school of life’.
“When you travel, you broaden your horizons.
“You learn so much about yourself and the world and everything that God has created,” she added. She says although she wanted to explore the world, she ended up finding herself.

The travelling junkie says she always finds it hard to choose her favourite destination as every nation has something unique to offer.
“But if I am woken up and made to choose which country I want to revisit, I’d ask to first pass by Mozambique for some amazing Mozambican bread with great seafood.
“We would then have to layover in Jordan for some amazing ancient buildings and tasty shawarmas.
“My last stop would be Mexico for the most amazing people with their unique culture and the best dishes in the world.
“I know I wouldn’t mind spending my days having some tacos, burritos and churros,” she explained.
