VIDEO: Fire breaks out in flat

A fire mysteriously started on Thursday at flat number 128 Reabota in Mhluzi. The owner, Bongani Masombuka, left his bathroom window open before leaving for work.

His neighbours alarmed him about the fire at approximately 09:30. They broke a window and tried to stop the blaze using water buckets and a hosepipe while waiting for fire extinguishers.

“When I arrived, I found my bathroom burnt down. It seems that a burning object was thrown through the window. Even the electrical appliances in the living area caught the fire,” claimed Mr Masombuka.

His washing machine, TV set, DVD player, clothing, bath tub and toilet were ruined. People gathered around the scene and helped him clean up.

” If it wasn’t for my neighbour’s help, I would have found the whole house in ashes,” he thankfully said.
