Pedestrian killed on N11
A pedestrian died after he was hit by a car on the N11 on Sunday. The incident took place at approximately 17:45 near Doornkop informal settlement.
The deceased identified as Armani Mlambo, was in the company of his girlfriend, Margaret Njoma, when they attempted to cross the road. When they got to the middle of the road, an oncoming VW Golf struck Mlambo. He was declared dead by the ER24 emergency personnel upon arrival at the scene.
“The car hit him so hard that he flew and landed on his back. I could see that there was no life in him. He was badly injured,” said his partner.
The couple went to visit a friend in Doornkop earlier in the day, they were on their way to get a lift to Mhluzi when the accident happened.

Mlambo originally from Shai-Shai in Maputo, rented a room in Plein section while Njoma stayed in Newtown.
Mlambo’s brother, Samuel Khoza, said the funeral arrangements will be confirmed on Saturday when they arrive home.
“We are still trying to get money to transport the body to Maputo. My brother did not have a permanent job, we desperately need assistance to get him to his resting place”.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide, no arrests have been made yet.
