Update: ‘Tongue’ docket transferred

The docket of violation of a corpse which was opened in Middelburg by the family of Martin Mahlako, has been transferred to Jane Furse in Limpopo for further investigation.

The matter was transferred after it was revealed that Everest Funerals in Middelburg notified Mr Mahlako’s family of the absence of his tongue shortly after they received his body.

Indications now are that his tongue must have been removed in Jane Furse, and thus the decision to transfer of the docket.

A police source say that the possibility that the body will be exhumed exist but that the decision to do that will lie with the court. He was buried in the Mhluzi grave yard.
