Update: In court for bestiality

The man from Doornkop who was arrested on 23 January on a charge of bestiality, briefly appeared in court again.

Tshepo Utla (20) is charged under the Sexual Offences Act for bestiality and under the Animal Protection Act for torturing of an animal.

Utla was arrested after neighbours called the police and stated that they found a man next to a dead four month old puppy.

A condom, which was apparently still over the suspect’s penis when he was found, was sent to the police forensic department for DNA testing.

• A postmortem was done on the dog and a report was given to the SPCA and police.

• The case was postponed to 4 May for further investigation and DNA tests.
