Quantum and BMW collide

The driver of a white Quantum collided with a BMW at the corner of Cowen Ntuli- and Arafat Street in Eastdene at about 21:00 on Saturday night.

He appeared to be intoxicated according to bystanders on the scene, and was even put into the back of a Police van – suggesting that he had been arrested.

But the Middelburg SAPS said on Monday morning that no case of drunken driving has been opened, and neither a case of reckless driving.

Two people were treated for minor injuries on the scene.

According to a Police report, the driver of the Qauntum stated that as the robot changed to orange he was about to cross, but by the time he made it was already green for the other lane and that’s when the collision occurred.

The identities of the two drivers could not be established at the time of going to print.
