(Update) VIDEO: Botshabelo then, and now…

Nero is still fiddling while Rome burns, the Middelburg Observer can confirm in regards to the continued degradation of Botshabelo.

During a visit on Wednesday, all buildings except the church and the parsonage, had been tightly locked to avoid further vandalism.

The church’s roof however has further collapsed since the initial collapse two weeks ago.

Almost half of the church’s roof is gone and structural damage to the church building is now an imminent threat to the original stained glass panels.

The Observer retraced the steps of Ms Annerie Fitzgerald on Wednesday, taking video shots of the places she visited in the 80’s, as part of a study towards a B-Tech degree.

Compared to the footage taken by Fitzgerald, the new footage clearly shows the systematic demise of the Place of Refuge.
