Poor Ronald came off worse, and Doncaster had to spend a night behind bars.

Mr Doncaster says, him and his wife, Colette, went to McDonald’s after a few drinks at Amazons Restaurant, where he ordered his favorite grilled Grand Ranch chicken burger, with and extra chicken fillet.

Tempers flared when he asked the cashier to repeat his order verbatim, since the fast food outlet had gotten his orders wrong in the past.

The offended cashier asked him to wait outside in the parking lot for the manager, where Mr Doncaster claims, he was assaulted by a group of eight to ten McDonald’s employees who, dragged him back into the store where a major scuffle broke out.

Computerized tills to the value of R200 000 were damaged according to McDonald’s, who opened a complaint of malicious damage to property against Doncaster.

Doncaster was led away from the scene by police, and spent the night in a cell before appearing in court the next day.

The day after the incident, a cashier on duty the previous night, told the Observer that Mr Doncaster exploded after being told that his burger was out of stock.

She however admitted that he never hit back after being overpowered by a group of her colleagues, “who simply wanted to restrain him”.

The case dragged on spurring McDonald’s to request an out of court settlement, to which Mr Doncaster agreed.

At first, McDonald’s demanded that he started working for the brand, to pay off the damage caused in the fight.

He however declined, saying that their terms boiled down to acknowledgement of guilt. Instead, Mr Doncaster agreed to pay R20 000 in damages for his part in the scuffle. He also agreed that he would never set foot at any McDonald’s outlet again.

His wife Colette, who has not been banned from McDonald’s, often buys him his favorite burger, with the extra chicken fillet.
