Mr. de Beer in his personal capacity as well as the business known as JM de Beer Farming recognises that one of its workers.
Mr. Theo Martinus Jackson, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court of Middelburg and is charged with kidnapping and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
This relates to an alleged incident wherein Mr. Theo Martinus Jackson and Mr. Willem Oosthuizen allegedly assaulted Mr. Victor Mlotshwa.
Mr. de Beer and JM de Beer Farming were also implicated in the alleged incident by the media.
Mr. de Beer and JM de Beer Farming hereby categorically denies any knowledge of the alleged incident until it was widely publicized in the media.
It also strongly denies any involvement in the alleged assault of Mr. Victor Mlotshwa and explicitly states that it is not part of the incident and that it most certainly does not accord with the farming practise of Mr. de Beer and JM de Beer Farming
Mr. Jackson is employed by JM de Beer Farming as a farm worker but has taken leave from 10 November 2016.
Mr. Jackson at the time of the alleged incident, acted in his own personal capacity and not within the course and scope of his employment with JM de Beer Farming.
Mr. de Beer as well as JM de Beer farming strongly condemns this kind of behaviour and it is not in accordance with Mr. de Beer’s moral values and JM de Beer Farming’s values and business conduct.
JM de Beer Farming has already consulted with an attorney and the necessary disciplinary steps have been taken against Mr. Jackson, which includes immediate suspension.
Mr. de Beer is a respected member of the farming community and JM de Beer Farming is respected as a farming business both of whom respects its employees and strongly upholds the dignity of its employees.
In the light of the above, Mr. de Beer and JM de Beer Farming views the alleged incident in an extremely serious light and will ensure that all disciplinary steps taken against Mr. Jackson runs its course.
