No protests in Mhluzi as expected
Mhluzi was quiet this morning with no sign of riots or protests by land claimants in Extension 6 ahead of a court ruling expected to declare the land grab illegal.
A drive into the township just after 06:00 was met by scenes of calm and normality and no one was prevented from leaving the township to go to work – unlike last week.
Today (Tuesday) a Middelburg High Court ruling will be announced. It is expected to give the municipality the go-ahead to forcibly remove any structures if required.
Police remain on high alert following threats from the EFF and land claimants that the situation could turn violent.
At the time of going to press, there were no reports of crowds gathering or any road closures.
