The Steve Tshwete municipality has announced that load shedding has been put on hold after the restoration of electricity to the areas as a temporal measure since late on Saturday.
This includes portions of the CBD, Kanonkop and Dennesig.
“The network is currently under strain and residents are requested to switch off unused appliances and assist in saving electricity.” they said in a statement on Monday afternoon.
The Municipality lost 88kV cable between Verdoorn and Sipres due to a fault in Meyer Street (bridge) during the early hours of Wednesday, 30 November and load shedding was implemented to provide affected areas (Kanonkop and Dennesig) with power.
The municipality also confirmed that in the meantime, repairs to a 88kV cable are currently underway and completion is not yet known. They stated that regular updates will be sent via SMS’s and local media.
