Deaf man looking for family
An ex-policeman from Kuruman, who has gone deaf after being in a coma for almost a year, is stranded in Middelburg.
David Lawrence Ngobeni (64) was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident near Tonga in February this year.
He fell into a coma, sustaining serious hearing loss in the process and was only discharged from hospital on 2 December.
Thereafter Mr Ngobeni, who can only communicate via writing on a paper, traveled to Middelburg to search for his son who was working at the Middelburg Hospital.
Upon his arrival he was informed that his son has since relocated to Upington. No one knows the name of his son’s new employer.
Mr Ngobeni is now stranded in Middelburg and will only be able to travel to Kuruman, where his family home is, after he has received his pensioner grant in January.
If anyone knows something about Mr Ngobeni’s family or their whereabouts, can contact Capt. Khanysile Zwane on 013 243 1434 or 079 049 3320.
