Ex-soldier accused of killing girlfriend on trial

Murder accused Ezekile Motsumi Thipe's trial is set to begin in Breyten Magistrate Court on 5 March 2018. 

Mr Thipe, a former South African National Defence Forces (SANDF) member, was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, who also worked in the SANDF in Middelburg, in 2016.

Mr Thipe and the deceased were engaged and had a four-year-old daughter at the time of the murder.

The mother of the deceased filed in a missing case report with the police after she tried contacting her daughter with no success, the accused was then arrested for the murder of his fiancee.

Mr Thipe allegedly suffocated his fiancee and set the corpse alight on the Vlakpoort road underneath a bridge. Mr Thipe is facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
