Man hijacked on N4
A man was hijacked at the Van Dyksdrift off-ramp on the N4 on Tuesday night after he thought he was being pulled over by a police officer.
The man, a 37-year-old Mozambican national, was travelling in a white Toyota Hilux when at 18:30, a car behind him flashed its lights. Being under the impression that it was the police, the man pulled over at the off-ramp.

Capt. Khanyisile Zwane, Middelburg police spokesperson, said that a grey Volkswagen Golf 5 stopped in front of the victim’s vehicle where a man got out and told him that some of his cargo had fallen off.

When the victim got out of his vehicle to have a look, the man pulled out a firearm. The victim was ordered to climb over the steel barricades next to the road and lie down on the ground, where after the armed hijacker drove off with his vehicle.
The police are investigating a case of vehicle hijacking. Anyone with information can call the investigating officer, Det. Const. Jabu Mndebele on 013 249 1402.
