VIDEO: MOTH’s celebrate as 1953 Saracen arrives at Gondar Shellhole

The Memorable Order of the Tin Hats welcomed a 1953 Saracen to its armoured vehicle showcase on Saturday.

The event was celebrated by a full parade in MOTH regalia at the Gondar Shellhole where a drone also captured the special arrival.

The vehicle belongs to Mr Monty Truwig who bought it for R15 000 in 2010.
Mr Struwig bought it to sell as scrap metal when steel prices were between R5 and R6 per kilogram.

He however did a little research on the vehicle and decided not to cut it up and sell it, but rather to donate it to the MOTH’s where the Saracen have found a honorary spot in front of the Shellhole.

A bottle of champagne was broken on the Saracen to mark the special occasion.
