Update: Police still searching for robbers while traffic piles up on R555

Motorists are urged to avoid the 3 way stop leading to the old Witbank road as traffic continues to pile up while police are still searching for a gang of robbers who fled into the bushes after a shootout with police this morning.

The robbers targeted ATM’s in Mhluzi and one was successfully blown up.

Police however received a tip off and followed the robbers onto the R555 where the shootout continued.
Three robbers were killed.

The R555 remains closed while police search for other suspects.
