Update: Three bodies removed from bloody shootout scene
The bodies of three robbers shot and killed by police during an early morning shootout on the R555 this morning, have been removed from the scene.
A forensics team is currently busy sweeping the vehicles used by the gang of robbers to target ATM’s in Mhluzi for evidence.

Residents in the area should remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious persons after a number of robbers succeeded in fleeing.

One ATM was bombed before police, acting on a tip off, confronted the robbers and a shootout ensued.
The robbers fled onto the R555 where another shootout occurred.

The road remains closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area for now.
