Medicine depot not breached in robbery
Nothing but a number of weapons were stolen during a brazen robbery on security guards stationed at the Mpumalanga Department of Health’s provincial medicine depot in Nelson Mandela Drive.
Four balaclava-clad men overpowered two female guards around 01:00 last Sunday morning.
The men demanded weapons but the two officers denied carrying weapons.
They then proceeded to frisk the officers and found both their service pistols hidden under their clothes.

The department has denied that the depot itself had been breached by the robbers.
The men made off without hurting either of the women on duty.

The two female security officers work for Mafoko Security Patrols who have been contracted by the department to secure the depot.
Depot employees said that they received a circular from the department last Monday alerting them of the robbery.
Police say that one of the robbers may have worked for the depot, but the investigation has not rendered any positive results yet.
