Joint funeral for Groblersdal women that drowned in Mozambique

The bodies of the four South Africans that drowned in Mozambique has been brought back to South Africa.

Lesego Matsepe (20), Mmatolo Mogafe (24), Gregory Mfune (27) and David Kaise (29) drowned whilst swimming in the sea at the Portuguese Island on Monday 14 January.

A large scale search was launched. The first body was recovered on Thursday 17 January with two more the next day and the last body on Saturday 19 January.

The families’ spokesperson Bongani Diako, said that the bodies have been brought back to South Africa together. They will now go to their families for burial.
Gregory Mfune will be buried in Bethlehem and David Kaise in Embalenhle Secunda, on Saturday.

A joint funeral for the two women from Groblersdal, will also be held on Saturday. The funeral for Lesego Matsepe and Mmatolo Mogafe will be held at the Groblersdal Rugby Stadium and will start at 07:00.

Mr Diako thanked the people of Mozambique and Mozambican authorities for their efforts as well as the South Africans who supported the families during the last week.
