Mother claims child was kidnapped – police warn of hoax
Three children were allegedly kidnapped in Newtown over the weekend.
The mother of one of the children said she noticed that her son was missing when he didn’t come home for lunch.
She and the other parents searched for their children and were told that a white vehicle had abducted them.
The woman says she reported the matter to the police, who then joined them in the manhunt.
Hours after the search, the woman claims the police found the children in eMalahleni.

The children were allegedly in a house with several other children, unharmed, however, they were starving.
The mother says the ordeal has been traumatic and does not want to talk about it.
“I am happy we were able to find my son but I am still in shock,” she said.
• Mhluzi Police spokesperson Sgt Thabitha Leshilo said that the incident was not reported.
• Last week Brigadier Leonard Hlathi warned residents about a hoax message doing the rounds on social media.
The message claims that there is a vehicle with a Gauteng registration number driving around Mhluzi, asking children for directions to an orphanage, and then abducting them.
