Stage 4 load shedding announced – here is when Middelburg’s lights will be out

Eskom has just announced Stage 4 load shedding. 

According to a press release the announcement follows the loss of six generating units on Monday, putting additional strain on the power supply.

Stage 2 load shedding was announced on Sunday night.

On Monday, the power utility announced that Stage 2 load shedding will continue. It was changed to Stage 4 from 13:00 until 22:00.

Stage 4 requires for 4 000 mega whats of electricity to be shed.

During Stage 2 the electricity outage was planned for 19:00 until 21:30 on Monday night. With Stage 4 load shedding the planned power outage remains the same.

If Stage 4 continues on Tuesday, electricity will be cut from 03:00 to 05:30, 11:00 – 13:00 and 19:00 – 21:30.

Eskom’s Juanita Vogel warned that schedules can change at any moment.
