Stray cows cause major accident on the N4
Nine vehicles were involved in an accident on the N4 when they collided into stray cows.
The incident occurred five kilometres from the Hendrina off-ramp at about 19:00 on Monday.
The cattle owner told www.mobserver.co.za that the fencing around his property was stolen, hence the four cattle went astray.
The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liason said that a driver and one passenger were seriously injured whilst four other people sustained slight injuries. They were transported to hospital for further medical treatment.

Taxi commuters travelling to Mozambique said they did not notice the cows until it was too late for the taxi driver to stop the vehicle.
Elize van Wyngaardt from Belfast said she was travelling home from Pretoria in her late father’s car when she crashed into one of the cows.
“This is my only source of transport, I mean my father drove this car for 20 years without any mechanical problems or accidents, ” said Ms Van Wyngaardt.
