Coal truck hijacked near N4
A side-tipper truck carrying 35 000 kg of coal was hijacked early on Sunday morning just outside Middelburg.
According to Investigator Anthony Boucher from SA Investigations, the vehicle was traveling on the N4 westbound and took the van Dyksdrif offramp towards Kriel Mpumalanga.
About 6.5km down the road, the driver noticed an air drop on the trailer and stopped to inspect the vehicle.
The driver was overpowered by one man with a handgun and once he was restrained, two other men appeared on the scene.
Five minutes later the one suspect left with the vehicle while the other two suspects remained with the driver.

According to tracker information, the vehicle drove on the R544 towards Kriel and stopped just before reaching New Clydesdale Colliery, at this point the tracker was disabled and the vehicle has not been spotted since.
The two suspects were picked up by a light motor vehicle and left the driver tied up next to the road at around 03:45.
The driver walked to a nearby water plant and alerted the security, at which point his hands were untied and his company was alerted of the incident.
Mr Boucher urged anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact him on on 0645345853 or email info@rsainvestigate.com.
