Local investigator asked to help with kidnapping case

Young woman and boy abducted.

A young woman and a 15-year-old boy were kidnapped during a house robbery in Piet Retief on Sunday.

Anthony Boucher (SA Investigations and Security, based in Middelburg) confirmed this morning that the family asked him to help with the investigation to find Luzuko Mbisi (15) and a family friend, Aphumelele Nama (24).

Aphumelele Nama (24) was also kidnapped during the house robbery.

Mr Boucher said that on Sunday (March 19) at around 21:00, three armed men walked into a house located at 1725 Erasmus Group 10 in Piet Retief and robbed the family of their personal belongings.

One of the men collected the ATM cards from the family and forced them to write down the pin codes for each card.

“During the incident, the men forced 15-year-old Luzuko and the female family friend, Aphumelele, into a White Golf 7 GTI (registration number JCG 041 MP), and they left the residence.”

The following morning, at 03:30, R4 000 was withdrawn from Luzuko’s mother’s bank account at an Absa ATM in Ermelo, and at 03:53, an additional R1 000 was withdrawn from the same account.

The family had the ATM cards stopped shortly thereafter.

“The kidnappers have been using Luzuko to call some of his family members to ask them to transfer money to the bank account of Aphumelele. Threats have been made that Luzuko will be harmed if the family does not comply.”

Mr Boucher mentioned that a case of kidnapping and house robbery was opened at Piet Retief Police Station.
