Total of ten people killed in two early morning collisions

Altogether ten people were killed in two separate collisions that took place this morning on the R555 and N4.

According to a media statement issued by the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison six people were killed on the R555 between Ogies and eMlalhleni during a side-swipe collision between a truck and a Avanza.

The driver of the Avanza seemingly lost control, and the vehicle collided into the truck.

The driver and five passengers of the Avanza were declared dead at the scene while the truck driver escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, four people died after a vehicle they were traveling crashed into a donkey, and overturned on the N4 Schoemanskloof road near Bambi at about 01:00 today.

The occupants were traveling in a Toyota Fortuner from the direction of Mbombela.

Three people, including a 13 year old, died on the spot and one in hospital.

The seriously injured driver and three passengers with minor injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Belfast Hospital.
