Joggers foil attempted break-in at Tambotie home

A couple managed to scare off a thief attempting to break into their home in Tambotie Street after returning from a jog.

According to Ms. Lynn van Rooyen, the thief tried to break into their home on Wednesday evening at 18:44 while she and her husband had gone for a jog.

From what was seen on CCTV footage, the thief brazenly glanced through their kitchen windows before trying to force open a security gate by sitting on the ground and pulling the gate towards him.

He had spotted two camp chairs in the garden, and had already placed one in the corner to grab on his way out.

As he was trying to force open the security gate, the couple arrived home causing him to hide in the back of the yard where he first stood and waited for a while.

It was only until he heard the car doors opening and closing that he fled to the front of the yard, grabbing the other camp chair and scaling the wall.

Ms. van Rooyen shared screenshots of the CCTV footage, hoping that someone might recognise the thief.
