‘No spike-strip incidents’: TRAC N4

TRAC N4 has refuted claims of spike-strip incidents reportedly taking place on the N4 over the weekend.

Messages warning motorists of multiple spike incidents taking place near the Alzu Petroport have been circulated. The massage further states that the SAPS was informed and responded to the scene.

According to the media spokesperson for TRAC N4, Ms. Solange Soares, no spike-strip incidents were reported to or by the TRAC N4 Helpdesk.

“There was an incident believed to be related to spikes involving a mini-bus on Sunday. However, after investigation it was confirmed to be a burst tyre.”

• Motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes between the Schoemanskloof turn-off and the NZASM tunnel due to the torching of five trucks at midnight. Vehicle recovery has resulted in road closure.
