80-year-old disappears without a trace, family launches frantic search

The family of an 80-year-old man is desperate to be reunited with their father and grandfather after he went missing on his way to eMalahleni.

Jeff Clapperton (80) left his home on a plot about eight kilometres outside of eMalahleni on the R555 (old Witbank road) on Sunday morning at 08:00 and was headed to the Super Spar when he disappeared without a trace.

He was driving a white Hyundai Atos, registration: FJX072MP and is suspected to have been wearing a grey or black tracksuit pants and a black tracksuit jacket.
He also has tattoos on both arms, which are considerably aged and faded.

His daughter, Jayne Lombaard from Middelburg, says that her father never arrived at the Super Spar.

“We went through video footage both at the Super Spar and the ATM where he would have stopped, which shows that he never arrived. Money, however, was drawn from his account.”

According to Jayne, her father is fully coherent, and does not suffer any memory-related conditions like Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

A missing person’s case was opened at the Witbank SAPS.

Anyone with information of Jeff Clapperton’s whereabouts is asked to urgently call Jayne at 082 853 0944 or Daymond Lombaard on 082 821 0309.
